The Vulcano Workshop
The Vulcano Workshop Beginning the Spaceguard Survey has been
organized by the IAU Working Group on Near-Earth Objects
in response to a statement contained in the Resolution which,
at the XXII General Assembly of the IAU, has prolonged the activity
of the Group for another triennium.
The basic motivations for the organization of this Workshop have been:

to discuss the scientific, technical and managerial problems related to the
possible set up of a surveillance system like the proposed Spaceguard System
(see the Spaceguard
Survey Report, edited by D. Morrison, 1992,
and the updating chapter contained in the book Hazards due to Comets and
Asteroids, edited by T. Gehrels, 1994);

to put this discussion in an international context.
The Workshop has been held in Vulcano (Italy), from 18 to 22
